Organization: The North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church

The North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist ChurchThe Challenge:
A statewide church conference needed a leader for their newly established leadership academy for their clergy. The leader had to have entrepreneurial abilities, as well as fundraising skills, experience in leadership/management, and effective training ability. The search committee contacted The Human Element for assistance in evaluating their top two candidates. Both candidates had the education and church-related experience to do the job. The committee wanted behavioral assessments performed to determine how these candidates would do the job.

The Solution:
Both candidates took behavioral assessments and the results were validated by The Human Element. During the validation process, it became clear that these candidates were wired quite differently from one another. In discussions conducted in the validation process, The Human Element determined that one candidate clearly was more suited for the entrepreneurial aspect of the position.

The Result:
The Human Element reported to the search committee the findings of the assessments and the conversations during the validation phase. The committee offered the position to the candidate who was most wired for the position. The new director of the leadership academy is enjoying success in her new role, and has become quite effective in a very short period of time.

"Using the behavioral analysis really confirmed the right person for the leadership role in the Academy. The services The Human Element provided to us helped us choose the best person for this role and helped us understand how she would do her job on a daily basis. This helped us make the new leader more effective and efficient in a shorter period of time - helping us reach our goals for the academy more quickly." - Dr. Steve Compton

Organization: A Local Financial Services Organization

A Local Financial Services OrganizationThe Challenge:
A local financial services firm was considering merging with another firm in a nearby city. The leadership of each firm was concerned about how they could successfully work together on a daily basis. The Human Element was asked to perform a behavioral assessment on each leader.

The Solution:
The Human Element conducted behavioral assessments on each leader and met in private, one on one sessions to review the results. Because the leaders from both firms concurred with the validity of the analysis instrument, they trusted the results and were comfortable sharing the information openly with each other.

The Result:
A subsequent meeting together revealed the similarities and differences of the two leadership styles and resulted in not only the determination to move forward with merger discussions but, in fact, accelerated the process by both leaders gaining confidence in their ability to work together.

“This experience with The Human Element enabled us to have a very valuable conversation about how we each approach work and life. The process allowed us to, in three hours, identify specific areas in which our natural work styles were complementary or conflicting. The information was significant and valuable in helping us determine whether or not to merge our organizations. Without the Human Element process, I believe that learning how we could most effectively work together would literally have taken years rather than hours. Few business partners ever focus so intensely on this basic issue. We were fortunate enough to tackle it up front with the help of The Human Element.” - President and Founder

Organization:  HumanCentric Technologies

HumanCentric TechnologiesThe Challenge:
A local high tech services company called on The Human Element to assist in the successful integration of new leadership and management teams.

The Solution:
Starting with a thorough evaluation of the company’s mission and goals, The Human Element established a comprehensive plan to achieve efficient integration of individual and team work styles. Each staff member took a behavioral assessment and engaged in individual evaluation and validation sessions. The results were then charted and presented in an open discussion aimed at fostering understanding about differing behavioral styles and methods for strengthening working relationships and maximizing performance.

The Result:
Strategies and tactics emerged that were embraced as methods for achieving the company’s short and long term goals. Company leadership found The Human Element to be of such value that the behavioral assessments have become a standard part of the hiring and retention process. Given that the company is committed to hiring the right person for the right job - and wants to ensure continued positive growth rate with very low turnover – The Human Element has been engaged in an ongoing partnership to help achieve this goal. Over the last six months, results have shown that when a new employee is hired for a key role, the management of the company already knows how to manage and motivate that individual and how they will perform daily.
